Stove top pulled beef

Stove top pulled beef

We love to it things stuffed in tortilla and wraps so I wanted to try pulled beef. The spices mix makes it so good and the long cooking makes it tender. If you don’t like spicy food, be careful on the chili powder.

Then you put the pulled beef in the tortilla, avocado, tomato, coriander, onion, lime and sour cream : a real delight.

Stove top pulled beef (serves 4):

  • 1kg stew beef
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 lime
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 500ml beef stock
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper

Add the meat and all the spices (except lime) in a bowl and mix well.

Heat the oil in a pot.

Brown the meat until well colored.

Get the beef out of the pot. Add the lemon juice and the beef stock with a wooden spoon to get all the caramelized bits of meat in the sauce.

Put the beef back in the pot and cover with a lid. Let it cook for 2 hours and mix occasionally.

After 2 hours, take the lid off and let it cook for 30 minutes.

Take the beef out of the pot.

Pull it apart with two forks.

Serve!
