Chinese inspired beef roast and roasted potatoes

We don’t eat beef very often because it is expensive. So I got that on sale and was thrilled BUT I didn’t want to mess it. 1) Cooking time! Nobody wants an overcooked roast as tough as a shoe sole, 2) Seasonings! So important to enhance the taste of the meat.

Festive chickpea salad

If you are on side dish duty for an upcoming event or you want to impress your guests, this salad is as beautiful as it is delicious. You can even prep the salad the night before and the dressing in a separate bowl to mix it in last minute. No reason not to try. Now let’s talk about pomegranate. Not only does it add color but also crunchy bits of sweetness + i

Summer = cocktails for me. Last year, I was breastfeeding and didn’t drink a single mojito. My daughter is now weaned and I take advantage of it. Mojitos are so easy to make, I love it. It is really expensive when you drink it in a bar sooooooo, do it yourself!

Apricots clafoutis

I promised more summery recipes so here is one to make the most of the short apricots’ season. I love this recipe, the flavors are really balanced and delicate. A clafoutis that goes well with the sourness of apricots! You cook the apricots in butter and sugar first to make it less sour. It is really simple, no specific tools and it looks great on the table for dessert or tea time. You can replace the apricots with whatever floats your boat : cherries, apples, plums…etc or even put some rosema

A weekend in Nîmes, France

We spent a weekend in Nîmes in July as you probably saw on Instagram. We stayed 4 days in a AirBnb but it was a little bit too much for what’s to visit in here, 3 days would have been perfect.

Gorgonzola and bacon potato gratin

It’s 38°C outside but I feel like eating a tartiflette. Tartiflette is a french dish : potatoes, bacon, sour cream, reblochon (french cheese) layered in a dish and baked. Yumminess. But the struggle was real, no reblochon in my fridge. So I tried to make do with what I had and I had gorgonzola.

The meat has a strong flavor but I really like it. 2 – La brandade de moru

Baked caprese chicken

This recipe is so summery! Summer means 3 things for me : sun, long nights AND good fresh vegetables/herbs. It’s an ideal recipe for when you have guests : it’s chic, doesn’t require a lot of prepping and bake for 30-45 minutes.

My tips to travel with a baby

All of you new parents (or not) out there, I know traveling with a baby might cause you anxiety. So here are my top tips to make it smooth(er).

Easy and creamy lemon cheesecake

There are hundreds of cheesecake recipes on the internet and I couldn’t find one that really fit my liking so I mixed a few of these and came up with this one. It is tasty, has a creamy texture and it is not too sweet.

Super moist bacon and olives cake

Perfect for picnic, snacking or lazy week night dinner, savory cakes are a thing I use and reuse all summer.

Mamamia pizza, Lyon 7ème, France

We live just a few steps away from this pizzeria. Everyone has been telling us that these pizzas are THE BOMB for weeks so we decided to finally give it a go and see if it was as good as everyone was saying. It is located in rue de Gerland, near the Jean Jaurès metro station.

Apricot jam rolls

If you have friends over for tea time or an afternoon snack, these rolls will up your game. Quick to prepare, you eat them straight out of the oven. And if you don’t like apricot, use the jam of your choice ; easy peasy! As we’re using puff pastry, it will not be as good if you reheat it later. You’d still be able to eat it BUT way less puffy. Of course, ours have not even had the time to think about reheating. ALL GONE. In a record time. Apricot jam rolls (5-6 rolls) : * 2 puff pastry sheets

Raspberries and nectarines crumble

Desserts and I have a love-hate relationship. I mean, I love desserts : chocolate, cheesecakes, cakes…etc I love it. BUT if I have to choose I’ll always have a savory snack [http://travel-and-food.com/en/2016/05/crumble-epinards-et-fromage-frais/] instead. Because cheese, meat, eggs are my things! So I decided to try and eat more desserts (it is a thing you know) but it has to be quick, easy and delicious, of course. And because it is important to eat in season : let’s get into summer fruits.

But guys… Everytime I crave hummus, I don’t have tahini on hand and this stuff is not easy to find where I live so you know, I told myself I might as well try to make it without tahini. Rosemary foccacia

The smell of the pizza dough raising, of the foccacia straight out of the oven… I love it but we rarely take time to do it from scratch. It is a shame because it is really quick and easy, the only bummer is the raising time but you can do it the morning for lunch or dinner. So today, I decided I’m doing it. Pizza dough from scratch and focaccia with fresh rosemary on top. YES. I ate it dipped in hummus… But eat it as you like, plain or with a delicious dip. The rosemary is subtle but it gives i

How I feed my family of 3 for less than 40€ a week

Today, I decided to write a different post than what I’m used to. But when I lack of inspiration to find meal ideas I scroll blogs and pinterest to find some easy, cheap and kinda healthy meals to prep. So I decided I might as well put that in here too in case someone is interested. I feed my family of 3 for less than 40€ a week. Peas, mint and feta fritters

Summer is coming our way! And with it, its high temperatures. I’ll crave fresh food more than anything else. I’m basically able to live of watermelon during summer. Those fritters are ideal for a summer lunch! I love their minty taste, it’s moist and crunchy, really I love this recipe. If you like little bite size lunch, I made crab cakes [http://travel-and-food.com/en/2016/03/palets-au-crabe/] a few weeks ago. Pork chops in creamy mushroom sauce and rosemary mashed potatoes

The weekend was so rainy, we had to do something to feel cozy and warm, so we ate. JUST KIDDING, I was sick like a dog (I must have eaten something not very fresh somewhere…) so I was in bed all weekend feeling the worse I’ve been in years. I didn’t eat for three days straight and if you know me, this is THE big deal. Good point is my husband had this meal to go through the weekend without me cooking. But I tasted it and I can tell you that this rosemary mashed potatoes is the bomb. Really. A l

Now that you sleep

If you’ve read my other posts in the baby section of this blog, then you know that my baby girl Luyana wasn’t sleeping at night anymore after we went for a month long vacation in Reunion Island to visit family. I called my mother crying, threatening to come and live at her house again to get some more sleep, I cried hours, I got mad, I prayed to sleep more than 2 hours at night. I was desperate. Of course, we tried everything we thought of… Homeopathy, bedtime routine, explaining to her…etc. N

Two muffins recipes in a row, I know. But when I love, I have no limits. These muffins are absolutely delicious, not too sweet, a little bit sour with the raspberries, really perfectly balanced. I got the recipe here [http://chocolatetcaetera.fr/muffins-framboises-chocolat-pistaches/]. Chocolate muffins

I set a goal for our little family of three, I would like to stop buying processed food for our breakfasts (such as cereals or cakes…). I am far away from there at the moment but I am experimenting with recipes to get closer to that. You make 10 muffins out of the batch so for us 3 (baby eats a little bit of mine, not a whole), it gives us 5 breakfasts. Bonus points : it is cheap, you know what you eat and it is yummy. Easy 4 ingredients sesame chicken

I hated sweet and savory recipes for a loooong long time. Then I grew up and here I am, 21 years old and craving this all the time. I crave pineapple pizzas, caramelized pork, sesame chicken. Banana and almond yogurt cake

Cold weather is back but I am not complaining here, I love Autumn. It’s not too hot but not too cold and the colors are beautiful outside. Plus, in a week and a half, I’ll be enjoying summer on an island. I have no right to complain. (But if those people that are fixing our roof could be a little less LOUD, that would be perfect. Fusilli alle Vongole

This is a recipe we tried a while ago but we’re loving it ever since. Seafood is the kind of thing I could eat all day long. I really love that and my husband too, we make a good pair I tell you. Use the words shrimps or mussels and we’re 100% onto it.

No-knead bread

I love cooking but what I love overall is eating. You easily understand that waiting 3 to 4 hours for something to be ready is pure torture. So when I found Christel‘s bread recipe, I got really excited.

Ginger & garlic shrimps

Theses shrimps are delicious as a starter or in aperitif. It’s a recipe I highly recommend and I will do it as soon as I’ll be inviting some friends at our new house. It’s easy and in 30 minutes, you can serve it.

Gorgonzola and smoked ham quiche

For dinner, a quiche is really convenient. You serve it with a salad and bam, dinner is ready in a few minutes (without baking time obviously). There was leftovers so we ate it again on lunch the next day, wonderful.

Ladies and gentleman, this cake is the banana cake that I’ve ever eat. Therefore, the pictures are awful.

Flank steak with shallots sauce

I looked for a shallots sauce recipe on soooo many different websites before choosing one. I thought that it would be the same sauce that is a bistrot tradition in France.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Honey duck filet with asparagus

Duck filet is quite expensive but how versatile. Marinated, roasted, pan-fried… and so on. In this recipe, it needs to marinate so it’s better if you can prepare it the night before but if you forgot or don’t have time, 30 minutes in the fridge will be ok.

Sausages rougail

So this is a very traditional recipe from there : sausage, chili, tomatoes and spices!
