Gochujang braised nappa cabbage

So here is a spicy side idea ! Braised nappa cabbage, marinated in gochujang and soy sauce. It's so good and is the perfect match to grilled meat and rice for example.

I'm a big fan of sides that make a quick weeknight meal a whole new experience. It just makes it exciting, you know? It's ready in 30 minutes (including 10 minutes of marinating) and I love it.

Gochujang braised nappa cabbage (serves 4) :

  • 1 nappa cabbage
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (fermented chili paste)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 spring onion
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger
  • Vegetable oil

Cut the nappa cabbage into quarters without cutting the base off, it'll hold the leaves together.

Mix together the gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, grated garlic and grated ginger in a bowl.

Brush the marinade on the cabbage and let it rest 10 minutes.

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a deep pan.

Add the chopped spring onion to the pan and the quartered cabbage. Let it cook until golden for a few minutes.

Add 20cl of water and cover with a lid. Let it braise for 20 minutes, keep an eye on it and add more water if needed.

Serve with rice !
