Tired of pancakes and scrambled eggs for brunch? I got you covered! Just near the metro station Place Guichard, at Øslow you’ll have a brunch with local ingredients (sometimes organic), home made, reasonably priced and a menu that changes every weekend! So let’s say you want to come every sundays in May, you’ll never have the same food twice! I love it.a
Can we take a moment to talk about the place before talking about the food? Let’s do it because… Look at it! Peaceful and pretty. A lot of plants (look at this pilea basically screaming my name), very nice and pleasing. The upper floor is also very cute, more intimist with low lighting!
Anyway, let’s talk food. What do we eat? For 23 euros you get the full combo with a sweet plate, a savory plate, a juice, a hot beverage and tea + coffee are unlimited. Completely nuts considering the price range of mediocre brunch here in Lyon, this is a gem I’m telling you. We have a BLAST and went home so full I wish I was rolling.
The quality of the produce is extremely high, everything was delicious, light and fresh. Perfectly executed if you ask me. + the waiters are all smiling and friendly, always a nice addition to the experience.
Enough talking, let me show you. Just above, the savory plate. Half veggie waffle and half smoked trout to be able to taste it all. Not disappointed at all, it is filling and full of flavors. The beet hummus was a HIT, so fluffy. And the juice was mango, passionfruit and maté, quite tangy and very pleasing.
Yogurt mousse? YAS. Light as a cloud, a little acidity from the fruits (pineapple, apple and strawberries) and crunchiness from the granola. So balanced…
The mini version for your little monsters, the kiddy plate :
The size was perfect for my daughter’s appetite, she ate all of her waffle and soup but didn’t really show interest for the salad. Quite usual for her though… She had so much fun and is eager to come back.
We tried 3 different cakes so just above a delicious carrot cake, very moist.
A walnut fudgy cake with white chocolate mousse as fluffy as a cloud. 10/10
And finally a peanut cake with pears, fluffy and not dry at all. Perfect paired with tea.
Quick recap : if you’re looking for a delicious cheap brunch with local ingredients that doesn’t serve pancake, go ahead! Produce are very high quality and portions are GENEROUS.
