Lamb meatballs tajine

A colorful and delicious recipe! Lamb meatballs cooked in a tajine like sauce, soooo good. Lots of spices, easy to make, what's not to love? The longest part is the cooking and it takes only 15 minutes with little to no supervision.

As usual, my sweet sister gave me this recipe, she makes the most delicious tajines ever. Shape your meatballs really tight so they hold while cooking.

Lamb meatballs tajine (serves 3) :

For the meatballs :

  • 250g ground lamb
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • Salt and pepper

For the sauce :

  • 2 peeled tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper

Grate the onion and garlic clove. Add all the meatballs ingredients into a bowl and mix it well.

Shape the meatballs really tight, use about 1-2 tbsp of meat for each.

For the sauce : mince onion and garlic.

Add all the sauce ingredients into a pan, cook it down for a few minutes.

Add the meatballs into the sauce, cover with a lid and cook for about 12-15 minutes. Turn them throughout the cooking so they get soaked in sauce.
