Cascade Délices in Sainte-Suzanne (Réunion), family-friendly and easily accessible waterfall in Reunion Island
Travelling with kids is a lot of adaptation but also (for us anyway) a lot of fun. We're spending the summer in Reunion Island and we want to enjoy the hikes and waterfalls that are available. Except we have to take into consideration we have a 7 year old.
This hike, located in Sainte-Suzanne, is fitting for kids all ages, it's easily accessible, half of the trail is concrete and it's not too difficulte to help kids go through the rockier parts. Our daughter barely needed us on that hike, we just held her hands near the waterfall because some of the rocks were slippery. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the waterfall.
The walk/hike to get there is pretty, in a wooden area. You can see a lot of bamboos !
When you reach the waterfall, there's a "beach" of rocks where you can put your stuff while you go for a swim in the water. The water is... really cold ! Not surprising since it's riveer water. It's not a giant waterfall, it's about 3 or 4 meters high but it's enough to have a nice time.
I made a video on Instagram about that :
When we went there (it's Winter here !), it was just us but the weather wasn't ideal, so there's that. When it's sunny and warm, it can be crowded so get there early to get a good spot and enjoy.
You don't want to go to the waterfall when it's rainy, the water can go up quickly and it can be dangerous.
The cascade Délices is in Quartier Français, it's well indicated with signs.
The exact GPS coordinates are : 20° 56' 11", S, 55° 38' 02" E
If you're in the area, near Sainte-Suzanne or Saint-André, it's worth a shot.
Are you more of a waterfall or beach person ?
