Sloppy joes
You probably knew that I would share a recipe that uses the buns recipe I posted last week and you were right! I made some sloppy joes. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it takes 20 minutes to prep and it tastes great. + little ones LOVE burgers, everyone is pleased.
If you don’t know what sloppy joes are, it’s basically ground beef with a bunch of seasonings and sauces in a buns (homemade or not). Yummy food, you can add whatever you like on top: cheese (I did), veggies, pickles… Don’t feel overwhelmed when reading the ingredients list, it is mostly things we have in our pantries.
With leftovers I made a poutine. Fries, sloppy joes meat, cheese + in the oven until melted and you have a delicious meal.
Sloppy joes (serves 6) :
- 6 buns
- 700g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 180g (3/4 cup) ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp mustard
- 1/2 lemon
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tbsp chili powder (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp peppeer
- 1 tsp origano
Sautee the ground beef and finely diced onion in a frying pan with a little bit oil until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the meat.
Turn on medium-low and add all the other ingredients! Stir well. Add 10cl of water if it is too thick, cover with a lid and let it cook for 20 minutes.
Serve hot on buns with the toppings you want!
