Black bird coffee, cute brunch spot in Marseille

Black bird coffee, cute brunch spot in Marseille

In December, we were in Marseille for a couple days. After catching a train at the wee hours of the day, I spotted a nice little spot to get breakfast/brunch : the Black bird coffee. Here is what we ate there, at which price and my honest review.

Located on Cours Julien, it's central to a lot of things to do in Marseille. There's the room you see on the photo above and another cozier one in the back of the restaurant. The decor is cute, they have a ton of craft beers which is nice too !

What did we ate ?

My daughter ordered the nutella, banana, whipped cream and hazelnuts pancakes (9,5€), big portion and so good ! She loved it, I ate a bit in her plate and I really liked it too.

I love it when coffeeshops offer savory options early in the morning. My husband tried their bacon and maple syrup pancakes with fried eggs (10,5€). Pancakes were delicious and fluffy, bacon was crispy and eggs were on point.

We do love a sweet and savory combo but the maple syrup was kinda overpowering it all here. In other spots we tried, they put the maple syrup in a little container on the side and I think it's a nice idea. Not everyone likes to drown their pancakes in maple syrup.

What about me ? I wasn't very hungry but I saw a bacon and cheddar grilled cheese (6,5€) on the menu so I had to order it. It was warm, cheesy and so good. Very pleased with my order !

We also had to try their cakes ! The carrot cake (4€) was super moist and spiced just how I like it. And the drink on the photo is a hazelnut latte (5€).

My drink choice isn't a surprise for anyone anymore... A matcha latte (4€).

Prices are a little high but everything is good and the service is great so we'll be back to try their lunch menu when we can !
