Ground beef and peas curry

Ground beef and peas curry

A good curry with beef and peas, and freshly made naans, happiness is as simple as that sometimes. I like this recipe because it cooks fairly quickly, half an hour and you're done (a bit more if you're making the naans too but so worth it).

Top it with an undecent pile of cilantro because why not? I love that and I even added more after I took the picture. Dipped my warm naans in the thick, spicy sauce, it was amazing. Family friendly meal and super heart warming.

Ground beef and peas curry (serves 4) :

  • 400g ground beef
  • 100g peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (400g)
  • 400ml coconut milk
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 3 tbsp fresh cilantro (+ more for garnish)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper

Mince the onion, garlic and ginger.

In a deep pan, add the ground beef with a bit of oil and fry until no longer pink, 3-5 minutes.

Add the onions, garlic, ginger, salt, pepper, curry, turmeric and fry for 3 minutes.

Add tomato paste and mix well.

Add crushed tomatoes, coconut milk and cilantro. Let it simmer gently for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add peas and cook for 10 more minutes.

Serve over rice and/or with warm naans.
