- 10cl tomato purée
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper
- Olive oil
- Egg (optional)
- Grated mozzarella (optional)
Mix all the dough ingredients in a bowl, knead until you get a smooth and non-sticky dough.
Cover and let it rise for an hour or 2.
Meanwhile, chop the bell peppers in small cubes.
Mince the garlic and onion.
In a pan, add a drizzle of olive oil and cook the beef for 5 minutes, stirring often. Season with salt and pepper.
Add onions, bell peppers, garlic and cumin to the pan. Let it cook on medium heat for 12 minutes while stirring often.
Add tomato purée and let it cook 5 more minutes.
Preheat the oven at 180°C/350°F.
Roll the dough out in an oval shape.
Transfer it to a baking tray.
Add a few tablespoons of meat on the dough leaving the edges empty to fold them over.
Fold the edges over and seal the ends by pinching the dough.
Brush the edges with olive oil before baking for 12 minutes.
If you add an egg, let it bake 10 minutes then crack an egg and bake 2 more minutes. Same thing for the mozzarella cheese, 2 minutes are enough to melt it.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve!
