Beef kofta naanwich

Beef kofta naanwich

What's a naanwich, you may ask? It's just a sandwich but instead of crispy bread, you use a naan. Here I filled it with spiced beef kofta and a tangy yogurt sauce. Dinner done!

You could also add a bit of chili to the kofta if you like it spicy but I usually just drizzle hot sauce on my naan!

Beef kofta naanwich (10 pieces) :

For the kofta :

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1/4 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 clove
  • 1 handful flat parsley

For the sauce :

  • 1 greek yogurt (150g)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 handful flat parsley
  • 8 mint leaves
  • Salt and pepper

In a bowl, mix the ground meat, herbs and spices with thinly chopped onion and garlic.

Let it rest for 10-15 minutes to let the flavors infuse into the meat.

Meanwhile, prep the sauce.

Chop the herbs and garlic as thin as possible. Add it to the yogurt with lemon juice, season with salt and pepper. Set in the fridge until ready to serve, the sauce will thicken.

Shape 10 kofta with your hands and cook them 5 minutes on each side in a hot pan with a drizzle of oil.

Serve on a naan with a good amount of sauce.
