Caramelized pork belly

Caramelized pork belly

Spring is here and the need to grill things is real. If, like me, you live in an appartment, this recipe does the trick quite well. Thick pork belly slices caramelized and broiled in the oven, served with a salad and roasted potatoes.

I made a soy, honey, vinegar and ketchup marinade but it would also be delicious with honey, oil and herbs de provence.

Caramelized pork belly(serves 4) :

  • 500g thick pork belly slices
  • 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp ketchup
  • Salt and pepper

Make the marinade by mixing together the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, salt and pepper.

Marinate the pork belly slices in the sauce for 2 to 24 hours.

Preheat the oven at 420°F/220°C.

Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the pork slices. Pour the remaining marinade, if any, on the meat.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, it must be crispy and caramelized.

Serve warm!
