Lime and coriander homemade gravlax salmon

Lime and coriander homemade gravlax salmon

I've been wanting to try homemade gravlax for a while but I always procrastinated it because it seemed complicated. Well, turns out it's not! You just need a bit of patience. And the texture, oh you can't beat that. I flavored it with pepper, coriander seeds and lime zest.

It adds a nice brightness and freshness to the salmon. You can pretty much flavor it with whatever you have on hand. The salmon is salty but inside it's super fresh and balanced and perfect. We loved it and I'm already thinking about my next gravlax!

Lime and coriander homemade gravlax salmon :

  • 1 salmon fillet
  • 2 cups coarse salt

  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds

Rinse the salmon under cold water and dry it well in a towel.

Mix the salt, sugar, lime zest, crushed coriander seeds and pepper in a bowl.

Take an airtight container the size of your fillet.

Pour half of the salt mixture in the box, put the fillet on top.

Cover the salmon with the other half of the salt.

Close the container and put it in the fridge.

After 12 hours, flip the fillet. Make sure you're covering it with the salt on all sides.
